Broad Green Pictures Takes The Infiltrator, Starring Bryan Cranston

Takes The Infiltrator, Starring Bryan Cranston

Broad Green Pictures announced today the U.S. acquisition of Brad Furman’s The Infiltrator. Adapted by Ellen Brown Furman from the autobiography by Robert Mazur, The Infiltrator stars Emmy and Golden Globe winner Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad,” Argo) alongside Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), Golden Globe nominee John Leguizamo (Chef), Benjamin Bratt (Traffic), Yul Vazquez (Captain Phillips), and Academy Award nominee Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone).
Based on the true story of a fearless operative, the film relates the account of one of history’s largest and most elaborate stings. Set amidst the lavish excess of the 1980’s, The Infiltrator tells the story of undercover US Customs agent Robert Mazur (Cranston) AKA Robert Musella, who became a pivotal player for drug lords cleaning their dirty cash. He traded on mob connections to become the confidant to scores of the international underworld, and the bankers who enabled them. Laying his life on the line, he infiltrated the globe’s largest cartels and discovered just how deep into society their influence extended. The operation reeled in key players in a chain stretching all the way to Escobar. Their arrests would lead to the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, and shake the underground economy to its core.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Broad Green Pictures,” says Furman. :This project was truly a labor of love for all involved, and I can’t wait for Broad Green, whose passion for film is unparalleled, to bring ‘The Infiltrator’ to a wide audience.”
“Brad Furman is a major talent who has brought an exciting and intense piece of U.S history to screen,” says said CEO Gabriel Hammond and Daniel Hammond, Broad Green’s Chief Creative Officer. “We are eager to work with the filmmakers and cast to make sure their vision is realized for the release of this film.”
“We are so proud of this movie,” adds Good Films Founder Miriam Segal, “and could not be happier to be partnering with the brilliant team at Broad Green Pictures, whose passion and commitment to excellence will ensure this extraordinary real-life thriller reaches and excites the broadest of U.S. audiences.”
The deal was brokered on behalf of the filmmakers by WME, while Dylan Wiley, President of Specialty Releasing and Chris Tricarico, EVP Business Affairs handled for Broad Green. The Infiltrator is produced by Good Films’ Miriam Segal, with Bank Leumi, Good Films and LipSync co-financing.

Dallas Buyers Club Scribe to Draft Zombies vs. Robots Adaptation

Sony Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of the IDW comic book series “Zombies vs. Robots” has today scored an Academy Award nominated screenwriter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig Borten, who wrote Dallas Buyers Club alongside Melisa Wallack, has signed on to draft the film, which is going by the title Inherit the Earth. As reported earlier this year, Andrew Adamson (ShrekThe Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe) is attached to direct.
Launched in 2005, “Zombies vs. Robots” is officially described on IDW’s site as follows:
It’s tech prowess meets undead mayhem! Eisner Award-nominated team of artist Ashley Wood (“Popbot”) and writer Chris Ryall (“The Great and Secret Show”), a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies has only one chance at recovery – a team of robots that must protect and clone a lone surviving human baby. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been driven rabid by their frustration at inedible bots and their lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet.
Set to be produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs, Inherit the Earth is a co-production of Platinum Dunes, Circle of Confusion and IDW Publishing with Sony Pictures set to distribute. Previously, Oren Uziel (the upcoming Kitchen Sink) was attached to script.

Today, Paramount Pictures has revealed that World War Z 2 will be waged on June 9, 2017. That’s the same day that 20th Century Fox has earmarked for its planned Fantastic Four 2. That’s not the only box office showdown potentially in the cards today, either. Universal Pictures is setting their romantic comedy sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 for release on March 25, 2016. That’s the same day as Warner Bros.’ comic book showdown Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Locke writer and director Steven Knight will be providing the screenplay for World War Z 2 with Pitt again serving as producer.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, meanwhile, hails from Gold Circle Entertainment and Playtone production and serves as the long-awaited follow-up to the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. Written by Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos, who stars alongside the entire returning cast of favorites, the film reveals a Portokalos family secret that will bring the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding.
